Shodokan Aikido - BTB Aikido

Aikido is a traditional Japanese martial art that emphasises the principles of harmony and fluidity, focusing on blending with and redirecting an opponent’s energy rather than opposing it directly. Developed by Morihei Ueshiba, Aikido integrates techniques from various Japanese martial arts to create a system that prioritises peaceful resolution and personal growth. It includes throws, joint locks, and pins, and is practiced for self-defence, personal development, and spiritual harmony. Aikido training often involves both solo and partner exercises, and it is distinguished by its non-competitive nature.


Our Instructors provide a nurturing environment that emphasises personal growth and skill development. They focus on creating a supportive atmosphere where practitioners can advance at their own pace while fostering a sense of community and mutual respect. Our instructors are dedicated to helping each student achieve their full potential, balancing technical skill with philosophical insights.

What age group do we cater to?
For ages 13 and up, our program offers advanced training in Aikido techniques and philosophies. These classes focus on refining techniques, understanding deeper aspects of the art, and applying principles to real-life situations. Adults benefit from a structured approach to self-defence, mental discipline, and personal development.


Affiliated to: Our Aikido dojo is affiliated with prominent Aikido organisations, including the Aikido World Federation (AWF) and the Japan Aikido Association (JAA). These affiliations ensure that our training adheres to internationally recognised standards and practices, providing students with a high-quality and authentic Aikido experience.
